This position involves professional nursing work within the school-based clinic(s).


Assigned to the community school(s) to provide direct service and screenings to students. Provide follow-up by home visit, telephone call or letter to ensure referrals are completed on children needing hearing, dental, vision, or scoliosis consults. Relieves Health Service Aide during lunch break when present at school. Provides nursing services in clinic, as needed (assess students to determine need). Provide referrals to programs and other agencies, as needed. Identification of actual or potential health problems and addressing destructive life habits. Monitor and follow-up students with significant medical problems. May make home visits as needed, for effectively addressing students in crisis.


Develop individualized nursing care plans for students with identified medical needs. Work with parents and medical providers to obtain a medical management plan for students. Provide training to all school health staff and school staff caring for student to include daily and emergency procedures. Provide clinic management training to 3 school employees assigned to each school to assist in the care of students with medication administration and basic first aid. Provide classroom and staff health education as required by the Director of Curricula.


Perform initial immunization review at the beginning of each school year to determine compliance with the state regulation of immunization status for school entry and enrollment. Responsible for compiling information for the annual compulsory report. Will maintain compliance with state requirements. Assists RN Supervisor with communicable disease investigations. Perform other job-related duties as determined by the RN Supervisor or Nursing Director to ensure standards are met in accordance with the School Health Plan. Responsible for securing the designated information for purposes of protecting confidentiality, data integrity and appropriate access for all information, both confidential and public records, which is stored in hard copy or electronic format. Follows policy and procedures for DOH and local security policies. Maintains professional dress code and demeanor as a representative of the Administrator, The Bradford County Health Department and Florida Department of Health.


Performs other duties as required including attending staff meetings and other trainings to ensure compliance with training requirements related to all health department activities and the public health mission.



This position requires that you are a licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Florida.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
