AMMUNITION & EXPLOSIVES HANDLER (TITLE 32)

DUTIES:
As an AMMUNITION & EXPLOSIVES HANDLER, WG-6501-07, you will perform Ammunition Inspections pertaining to the receipt, classification, storage, issue and shipment of ammunition items. May receive shipments of all types of ammunition and verify DA form 1348 against Depot surveillance Records for correct NSN and Condition Code. Insure commercial carrier delivering ammunition has been inspected in accordance with regulations and standing operating procedures. Verify quantity of containers for accuracy of nomenclature, stock and lot numbers against shipping documents and signs for shipments. Receive turn-ins from using organizations, counts each item received and inspects for serviceability. Classify material to assure compatibility of explosive items. Study new material to determine how it functions, how it is constructed, and compatibility for storage purpose according to technical manuals. Assure that off-post shipments of ammunition by commercial carriers are in accordance with ammunition policies and procedures and in compliance with Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) and DoD regulations. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Performs work on hard surfaces and in areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring, and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent frequently lifts and carries munitions, equipment and packed containers that weigh 45 pounds or more. WORK CONDITIONS:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors in areas which may be hot, cold, damp, drafty or poorly lighted. Work areas are visually well-lighted, ventilated and some are climate controlled (heated-cooled). Workers are required to stand on floors of concrete, metal, or conductive compositions. They are required to wear safety shoes, eye and hearing protection, occasionally wear protective clothing including gas mask, respirator, butyl rubber gloves and aprons, cotton caps, and coveralls. They are regularly subjected to dirt, noise, fumes, industrial chemicals, and variations of weather and extremes of heat and cold. They are regularly exposed to all types' explosives, propellants, pyrotechnic items and compounds and other irritants, i.e., nitroglycerin, trinitrotoluene (TNT), white phosphorous, red phosphorous, chlorobenzalmalononitrile (CS), cyanide (CN) and preservative compounds like pentachlorophenol (PCP), PA and PB. Adheres at all times to fire, safety and security regulations within assigned areas. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injury from falling stock. Subject to exposure of explosive hazards and chemical fumes. Incumbent will work within an arc that has been identified as a plausible critical blast radius. Incumbent will be exposed to the possibility of explosion and flash fire. AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709, and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only.Category 1:
All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3:
All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS:
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. MILITARY GRADE(S):

E2- E6 TEMPORARY PROMOTION- For Title 32 selectees only:
This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If a permanent employee in the Title 32 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their permanent status AND return to their previous Title 32 position once incumbent returns from military duty. If the military tour member, who has reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her reemployment rights within 5 years, the selected individual may remain in this position without further competition. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT-For Current Title 5 selectees only:
This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If an on-board individual employed in the Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment rights to this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition. Experience:
Must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to use and maintain tools and equipment associated with the type of work to be done, and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Experience which demonstrates the knowledge of and the ability to apply safety standards. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Must have at least 12 months experience or training handling and the ability to learn how to destroy explosives and toxic materials; follow safety procedures in the handling of ammunition,explosives and toxic materials. Experience which demonstrates the ability to use radial monitoring instruments, photographs, chemical analyses and x-ray equipment.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
