FABRIC WORKER (T32)

DUTIES:
As a Fabric Worker, WG-3105-09, you will fabricate canvas covers, tarpaulins, and other canvas and leather items that are difficult to plan, lay out, construct, and fit because of figure irregularities, uncommon shapes and sizes, unusual designs, or intricately constructed parts; repair or replace upholstery on tactical, commercial, and combat vehicles and equipment; examine vehicle to determine extent of repair; replace hardware on canvas and webbing; repair worn or damaged leather equipment and attachments; hand sew leather-using saddler's stitch or running stitch; using tools such as stitch maker, awl, fid, and needles; machine sew items made of soft leather; fasten pieces of leather together and joins edges for desired appearance; finish edges and surface of leather to include replacing missing or damaged buckles. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work involves standing at worktables to measure, mark, and cut materials. Sits for long periods while operating sewing machines or doing hand sewing. Requires a considerable amount of stooping, bending, and kneeling. Continually uses arms, hands, and fingers to pull and position materials, sew, and use tools such as shears and electric knives. Occasionally works in cramped areas, on ladders, on scaffolds, and overhead. Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh up to 30 pounds; or may handle items that are consistently heavier and bulkier. Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh up 50 pounds and occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in shops or other enclosed areas that are adequately lighted, ventilated, and heated. Work may be performed outside. Subject to cuts, bruises, punctures, scratches, and other minor injuries or irritations from handling sharp tools and materials treated with special finishes. May be subject to dust and lint from fabrics and fumes and to odors from glues, preservatives, and cleaners. Subject to noise from sewing machines. Works on ladders and scaffolds when hanging or installing completed items. May wear or use protective devices such as safety shoes and glasses, respirators, and machine guards. AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709, and is open to Category 1:
All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3:
All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4:
All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS:
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. MILITARY GRADES:

Experience:
Must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to take measurements, make patterns and layouts, mark, cut, fit and sew or cement parts together, using hand or power tools and equipment and knowledge of fabrics and constructions methods SPECIALIZED
Experience:
WG-3105-09, must have at least 18 months experience or training reading and interpreting designs and blueprints, technical manuals, and prints, and drawing individual patterns, making alterations or adjustments to difficult patterns; experience computing dimensions, lay out circles, angles, curves and irregular shapes; experience planning, laying out, altering and constructing different, new or one-of-a-kind items; experience applying mathematical principles such those used in the calculation and measurement of fabric; experience operating, repairing, and maintaining sewing machines, punch presses and other related equipment; experience using a variety of hand and power tools and measuring devices such as flexible measuring tapes, straight and curved rules, protractors, compasses, dividers, squares, patterns and templates.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
